The Convenience of Cardboard Displays

admin 2015-07-03 clicks Comments
Anyone who owns or runs a store can tell you just how important store fixtures are.  They put your merchandise right in sight of the customers and provide the best way to keep a store neat and organized.  From shelving (a display concept that has existed since antiquity) to some of the more modern showcases like spinner racks, display cases and tools are absolutely everywhere.  But sometimes, your existing stands may not be enough.  What if you're planning on holding a massive sale that's expected to draw more customers than average and you want to make sure that you've got enough products on display to keep everyone happy?  Or what if you've got an up and coming hot product that's premiering in a few weeks and you know there's going to be a rush for that item?  When occasions like that pop up (and they will, given the nature of the retail business) a few extra store fixtures could come in handy.  One of the best ways to bring in those extra fixtures quickly and in quite the budget friendly manner is by picking up a temporary cardboard fixture.

So let's ask the question here: what qualities do cardboard display stands have that make them a worthwhile investment for retail stores and other establishments?  Frankly, there are a lot of them.  In this article we'll go over some of these qualities to help you make an informed decision as to whether cardboard stands and displays are the right tool for your store.

First, corrugated cardboard, or corrugated fiberboard to use the official term, is a surprisingly strong material.  While it is technically a paper based substance, the three layer construction that is commonly found in corrugated materials provides the strength that has made cardboard a popular shipping material for well over a century.  The cardboard is light enough to be easily moved around a location, yet sturdy enough to hold a substantial amount of products.

Second, cardboard displays come in many different shapes and sizes that are designed to accommodate all of those wide and varied products out there.  These are only a few of the different models available, but you can choose from free standing designs that incorporate a cell-like structure or classic shelves that are perfect for holding magazines, DVDs, greeting cards, clothing, and other items.  There are standing models with tiers, which have a more open display and can support a wide selection of items on one compact tray.  If you need something that's got more space than organization, choose a dump bin which gives your customers plenty of room to rummage around in.  For times when you need a cardboard display that's more focused on a specific task, models such as ballot boxes and countertop peg displays can be found online as well.

Third, cardboard displays are convenient and easy to use.  Aside from being light enough that they can easily be carried around a store to be displayed in the high traffic areas, they can also be assembled in a matter of minutes.  They're also easy to customize!  Some styles have removable headers that you can tack signs or text lettering onto.  The cardboard surface also works well with markers, giving you the opportunity to write directly on them to keep customers informed of sale items, or just to bring a little extra attention to the display racks and the products included.

Fourth, cardboard showcases can be incredibly versatile.  An alternate title for this paragraph could be "Who exactly can use these temporary display cases?"  I'll be honest, almost any store or establishment can find a use for these cardboard stands.  They've been spotted everywhere from bookstores to chain clothing stores, convenience stores and supermarkets alike.  The dump bins are popular choices for clearance sales, giving stores the opportunity to relocate all of their marked down merchandise to one convenient location.  They've even been used at fairs or sidewalk sales to hold shirts or give out literature (during nice weather, of course.  While the cardboard is surprisingly strong, it's not designed to last in rainy weather).

Fifth, there's the price.  This is the all important factor these days, isn't it?  Budgets are tight all around, and purchasing an entirely new display case that may cost you hundreds or even thousands of dollars just isn't an option.  Cardboard display racks, however, are quite a bit friendlier on the wallet.  Of course, there is a wide variety of price points out there for you to choose from, but there are also many stands out there that can be bought for well under $30 a piece (with some as low as $10, which is a definite bargain).  This low price will let you buy a group of cases at one time, with each one specific to a product type.  When you've got a rack that's specially made to fit the product you're marketing, said product will look better on the stand and will encourage more customers to stop and take a look.

These cardboard displays are incredibly convenient, but they do have a couple of points that you should keep in mind while you're making your decision to invest in them.  A cardboard showcase won't last you as long as a wood or glass display cabinet can.  They can be more susceptible to damage because of the cardboard construction as well, as cardboard is generally a softer material than wood or glass.  However, the price that these display racks are offered at makes them a prime candidate for being ordered in bulk to keep a few of them on hand in case of sudden replacements or if you need any extra showcases in a pinch.

Cardboard display cases are one of the fastest ways around to come up with a temporary showcase that brings special and unique products to the forefront of your customers' attention.  These stands are attractive enough and strong enough that they'll work well with many different locations, all at a price that will keep your operating budget quite happy.  And isn't that the best part of all?  I think so.
